Department of History
Building a solid foundation in basic academic knowledge for the students is our prime vision with a strong emphasis on practical aspects of the knowledge for the benefit of our society. We continually encourage and help students to participate actively and get engage in different other areas like cultural and social activities too. The aim of education is to bring students comprehensive development. Comprehensive development of a student means improvement of his/her ideologies, moral as well as development of scientific, cultural and humanistic qualities. The main aim of education is the enrichment of personality. It is the manifestation of universal value in an individual and thus stands for complete human development.
Under Graduate (B.A Honours & Pass in History):
i) B.A. (General). Duration: Three Years (1+1+1). From 2014-2015, Credit Based Six-Semester Degree Programme has been startedii) B.A. (Honours). Duration: Three Years (1+1+1). From 2014-2015, Credit Based Six-Semester Degree Programme has been implemented.

For admission in History Honours, the candidate should have pass H.S.
- A general candidate is eligible to apply in History Hon's course if he/she has secured in H.S or equivalent exam. 40% or above in average along with at least 45% marks in Education or 35 % in average and 50 % in Education.
- Candidate should have at least 50 % marks in H.S if he/she didn't have History as elective subject in H.S.
- Selection would be on merit basis subject to the fulfilment of the state government reservation policy.

- Organized a UGC & ICSSR Sponsored National Seminar on ‘Issues on Marginalized Tribals of Tripura’ on 20th - 22st January, 2012 by the Department of History Government Degree College, Kamalpur, Dhalai, Tripura. Later on a volume has been published under the same title from the Supriya Publisher, New Delhi on 2013.
- Organized a Departmental Seminar on Education ‘Bengal Renaissance in the Light of the European Renaissance’ on 12-04-2016. Resource Person: - Dr.Md. Mojahid Rahaman, Associate Professor, Ramthakur College, Agartala, Tripura.
